Spelling Bee Finalists

Congratulations to Year 7 pupils Oliwier Rusakiewicz. Thomas Cottam and  Anna Feaks (pictured above from left to right with Miss Huddart) who made it to the North West  regional finals of the Routes into Languages Spelling Bee, held in Manchester.  There were only 68 finalists from 3583  starting competitors.

Our three year 7 students performed excellently and were a credit to the school. They were up against some tough competition but did us incredibly proud. They have worked really hard since January to learn 150 words and had to be able to translate (and pronounce!) each word correctly in French and then spell it out using the French alphabet, including all accents and punctuation.

We are very excited to say that Thomas Cottam came 4th in the French section and so has qualified for the national finals at Cambridge University in July! He will now have 200 words to learn and spell.
