Spring Singing

On Friday 15th March, we welcomed Craig Lees and Declan Davies from Leeds College of Music to run a masterclass with two of our singers (John Holmes, Yr 13 and Emma Savage, Yr 10); after lunch we were then joined in the school chapel by friends from LRGS and LGGS for a singing workshop. Those involved came together again and sang to an appreciative audience in a large-scale concert with the Leeds College of Music Contemporary Pop Choir in Lancaster Priory on the following day.

On Saturday 23rd March, the Chapel Choir were back at the Priory for a special partnerships concert with the two county youth orchestras. As part of this, our pupils sang a programme of unaccompanied sacred music and then came together with Lancashire Youth Symphony Orchestra to perform John Rutter’s Gloria.

In our role as a worshipping community here at Ripley, the Chapel Choir maintain a regular pattern of worship with our fortnightly services of Choral Evensong and other services throughout the year.  On Tuesday 26th March we held our annual Taizé-style service which was a wonderfully reflective end to a busy day.  On Thursday 28th March, we held our last evensong of the term and were delighted to be joined by music teachers from throughout the county, who stayed afterwards for a meeting to discuss the county singing strategy, led by Emma Williams from Lancashire Music Hub.
